Operation Christmas for Iraq

In an effort to bring joy and Christmas to suffering Iraqi families, For the Martyrs will bring Operation Christmas to Iraq.

Operation Christmas for Iraq

In an effort to bring joy and Christmas to suffering Iraqi families, For the Martyrs will bring Operation Christmas to Iraq.

Story

In the past two decades, the Christian population in Iraq has fallen by over 80%. The 1987 Iraqi census reported that there were 1.4 million Christians in Iraq, and today it is estimated that the Christian population is less than 250,000.

In an effort to bring joy and Christmas to suffering Iraqi families, For the Martyrs will bring Operation Christmas to Iraq. Operation Christmas will provide wrapped Christmas gifts, as well as food, clothing, and over-the-counter medicines to Christian families who are internally displaced in Iraq.

“Christianity in Iraq- one of the oldest Churches, if not the oldest Church in the world, is perilously close to extinction. Those of us who remain must be ready to face martyrdom. Our tormentors confiscated our present, while seeking to wipe out our history and destroy our future. In Iraq there is no redress for those who have lost properties, homes and businesses. Tens of thousands of Christians have nothing to show for their life’s work, for generations of work, in places where their families have lived, maybe, for thousands of years.”
